Custom pool design in Bellevue

In Bellevue we design custom pools, usually gunite when the shape has to fit the lot exactly. Bellevue is part of Metro Nashville-Davidson, so every design has to clear Metro’s zoning review of where the pool sits on the parcel.

Why does design come first in Bellevue?

Bellevue is not a separate city, so permits come from the Metro Department of Codes and Building Safety. Its zoning examiners decide whether the spot you picked works under the parcel’s zoning, and Metro keeps pools out of easements and platted setbacks. The design stage is where those limits meet what you want.

We draw the pool, the deck, the barrier and the equipment pad on your survey, and adjust them there before anything is filed. A lot that backs onto a neighbor or a utility corridor can lose more room to setbacks than you expect, which is why the survey comes first.

Metro’s Zoning Help Desk takes the application in person, or it can be filed through the online permits portal, where the inspections are later scheduled.

Gunite or fiberglass for a custom pool?

If the outline is specific, a curve that follows the patio, a spa raised above the water, a beach entry, the answer is a gunite pool. The shell is sprayed over steel on site and hand-finished, so there is no catalog limit on shape. It takes longer to build, and its interior finish needs renewal eventually.

A fiberglass shell trades shape for speed. It is placed within days of excavation and never needs replastering. The design meeting is where you choose between the two.

What has to happen before the digging?

Two state rules apply here as in every Tennessee town. A pool alarm must be planned before Metro will issue a residential pool permit, and 811 must get notice at least 3 working days, and no more than 10, before excavation. Both sit on our schedule so the dig date holds.

The rest follows our four steps: consultation, design and planning, construction with a clean site each day and regular updates, and a final walkthrough. Jordan Vidro, one of our Google reviewers, wrote: “Everything was completed on time.”

Questions, answered

Pools in Bellevue: common questions

Is Bellevue TN part of Nashville?

Yes. Bellevue is not an incorporated city; it is part of Metro Nashville-Davidson County. A pool in Bellevue is therefore permitted by Metro’s Department of Codes and Building Safety, whose zoning examiners review where the pool sits on the parcel before anything is approved.

How many days before digging do you have to call 811 in Tennessee?

At least 3 working days, and no more than 10 full working days, before digging, under Tenn. Code 65-31-106. Locators mark the buried utility lines in that window. On a pool job, the request goes in once the permit is in hand and the dig date is set, so the marks are fresh.

Should I choose gunite or fiberglass for a custom pool shape?

Gunite. Gunite concrete is shot onto a steel cage in the excavation and troweled smooth by hand, so it can take any outline, a raised spa, a grotto or a beach entry. Fiberglass shells come from fixed manufacturer molds; they install faster and never need replastering, but the shape is picked from a set range.

What happens during the pool design stage?

The design stage turns the consultation into a site plan: the pool’s shape and depth, its spot on the survey clear of easements and setbacks, the deck, the barrier and gates, the equipment pad and any patio or covered space. You review it and ask for changes before anything goes to Metro Codes.
