Gunite pools in Hartsville and Trousdale County
In Hartsville we build custom gunite pools, along with the patios and outdoor rooms around them. Trousdale County’s Building, Codes & Zoning office on Broadway handles permits, and each pool’s shape is drawn for its own lot.
Who permits a pool in Hartsville?
Trousdale County’s Building, Codes & Zoning office, at 328 Broadway, Room 1, (615) 374-1125. We found no pool or barrier rule posted by the county, so the office confirms the code and barrier requirements when plans are filed. Two state rules apply regardless: a pool alarm must be part of the plan before the county can permit the pool, and 811 needs at least 3 working days’ notice.
Why gunite?
Because the shape is yours. A gunite shell is concrete shot over a steel cage on site and finished by hand, which makes grottos, beach entries, raised spas and vanishing edges possible. It takes longer to build than fiberglass, and the hand-applied interior wears and needs renewing eventually. For a faster install in a set shape, fiberglass remains an option.
What are the land and water like?
Hartsville’s business district sits on the West Fork of Goose Creek, which empties into Old Hickory Lake. Each lot gets its own look at soil, slope and drainage. Trey Park is in town, and the site of the Hartsville Nuclear Plant, which TVA canceled in 1984, is part of local history.
A long build this far from Brentwood still runs on our process: the site cleaned daily, and an update as each stage finishes. Eli Wilkinson wrote that “The project site was kept clean and organized each day.”
What should a Hartsville pool plan include?
The shell, deck, fence and equipment pad, drawn on the lot with the creek, the slope and any septic system marked. Around it, a stone patio or retaining wall and, if you want one, a covered seating area from our outdoor living work. All of it sits in one contract and one schedule.

Questions, answered
Pools in Hartsville: common questions
Who issues building permits in Trousdale County TN?
Trousdale County’s Building, Codes & Zoning office, at 328 Broadway, Room 1, in Hartsville; the number is (615) 374-1125. A pool or other new structure at a Hartsville address is permitted there. Call before plans are drawn to confirm the current code edition and any barrier requirements, since the county posts none online.
Will a Brentwood pool builder take a job in Hartsville?
Yes. Hartsville is on our list of 18 service towns, at the northeast end of the area. The distance doesn’t change the process: a site visit, a design, construction with a clean site and regular updates, and a final walkthrough with Angela when the pool is done.
What is a grotto pool?
A grotto is a cave-like space built into a pool, usually under a rock or stone feature with water falling over the front. It has to be sprayed and shaped on site, so it is a gunite feature; a fiberglass shell can’t include one. It is drawn into the design from the start.
How do you keep a job site clean during a pool build?
By cleaning it every day, which is part of the construction step of our process. Eli Wilkinson, one of our Google reviewers, wrote that “The project site was kept clean and organized each day.” Regular updates on progress come with it, so you know what the crew did that day.
